WASSAIL Flower Crown Workshop

Get ready for Western Cider’s Wassail celebration with Full Bushel Farm as they demonstrate the mechanics for creating 3- dimensional headpieces that can be attached to your hair, hat, or worn as an ornamental crown. She will use flowers dried directly from her urban flower farm using dried blooms.

The workshop is a part of Western Cider’s Wassail Workshop series. On February 1st, Western Cider hosts their sixth WASSAIL, a traditional orchard-based celebration to raise the winter spirit of the community. The purpose of this ritual is to insure a bounty of apples for the coming season.

WASSAIL Flower Mask Workshop

Get ready for Western Cider’s Wassail celebration by creating a beautiful, dried flower mask in this informative workshop led by Aimee Miklovic of Full Bushel Farm. Your mask will incorporate winter foliage and dried flowers grown by Aimee at her small urban farm in Missoula.

This workshop is a part of Western Cider’s Wassail Workshop Series. On February 1st, Western Cider hosts their sixth WASSAIL, a traditional orchard-based celebration to raise the winter spirit of the community. The purpose of this ritual is to insure a bounty of apples for the coming season. In the spirit of participation, everyone is encouraged to attend the festivities in Old World costumes. The festivities will include costumed pageantry, theater, music, and drinking around fires in their outdoor cider garden. This is a unique event comparable to none.

WASSAIL!

Join us for our 6th annual seasonal rite of WASSAIL to raise the winter spirit of the community! A traditionally British celebration, the purpose of this ritual is to ensure a bounty of apples for the coming season. The festivities will include costumed pageantry, music, food, and ritual.

In the spirit of participation, we encourage everyone to attend the festivities in Old World costumes. We will be hosting several workshops to help prepare you for the festivities including mask, crown, and cup making - in partnership with Full Bushel Farm and The Clay Studio of Missoula. See details on these workshops on our Events page or website.

Performance will start near 7pm, but come early to eat and get a mug of hot Wassail cider! Food provided by The Goon Squad - Food Truck. Music by Ad Hoc Brass Band.

Leave the kids at home! 21+ ONLY

Tickets are $8/person and will be available to purchase at the bar at the time of the event.

Wassail Clay Cup Workshop - The Clay Studio of Missoula

A beloved tradition in preparation for Western Cider’s yearly Wassail! Part of the Wassail Workshop Series. Learn time-honored handbuilding techniques that are surprisingly simple, and create your own clayen cup! Just like wassailers of old! We’ll fire it and coat it with food-safe clear glaze for you, so you can pick it up at the festival at Western Cider on February 1 to go wassailing with!

One of our teaching artists will walk participants through varying hand building methods to create your vision of a wassail cup! Beginner friendly, but also fun for those with clay experience who want to experiment with new ways to build cups. This workshop is a great opportunity to make a functional tumbler while enjoying a fun evening with great company!

Patrons of these special workshops will pick up their finished wassail cups at Western Cider's Wassail event on February 1, 2025!

One ticket covers instruction, materials, and firing for one individual to create a cup for wassail, which will be glazed and fired by Clay Studio of Missoula staff.

DRINK & DRAW: GIRLS ON SHRED WITH THE ZACC

The ZACC is thrilled to partner with Girls on Shred, a nonprofit dedicated to empowering youth and marginalized genders through action sports and community events, to present a unique Drink & Draw event at Western Cider!

Join us on January 8th, from 5:30 to 7:30 PM, for a fun, creative, and inclusive event featuring live models in dynamic poses inspired by action sports. Sketch from life to draw skateboarding and snowboarding athletes! Models will shift poses every 10-15 minutes to keep the creativity flowing.

This FREE event is open to artists and art enthusiasts of all ages and abilities. Art supplies are generously provided by the ZACC at no charge, though donations to support our arts programming are always appreciated.

Western Cider will donate a portion of the evening's cider sales to the ZACC, so sip and sketch knowing you're supporting local art and community-building.

Made in partnership with GIRLS ON SHRED, LIL' LIFTY embodies the handup that GOS gives to action sport newcomers in and around Montana. GIRLS ON SHRED provides youth and marginalized genders opportunities to participate in various outdoor activities including skateboarding, snowboarding, skiing, river surfing, and roller skating. 

10% of proceeds from the sales of LIL' LIFTY goes to GIRLS ON SHRED.
